Yo, West! Congratulations on your new gig...I don't know what it is, and I'm bummed that you're not at Kaman anymore, but I hope it's the right thing for ya. My best to the family. If you get a chance, contact me thru the website and let me know what you're up to. Miss you already. http://www.travislarsonband.com/contact.html

This is what happened in the old P100
P100 was where all the main live performance workshops were and when special guests would come in. I saw some amazing stuff there....this was before me. There is one floating around with Vinnie Colaiuta with Jeff Berlin and Eric Johnaon...Musician's Institute 1984...good stuff there.
What's Vinnie up to?
Wha??????
What I want to know is how in the heck does he keep the tempo? I mean, playing the notes is one thing..but holy cow!
P.S. if you have ADD...skip to 3:18 in the video
bark like a seal, vince!
This was a television special in europe...my friend Mark Moralez showed this to me.

Worship lately
So, since I'm no longer at Kaman Music Corporation, I thought I might make this a place to talk about my drumming and what I've been up to lately.
Well last Friday (the 3rd) I got a call from my Worship Leader (aka WL) friend Derek Paulo to come play with him at his last go around at Magnolia Presbyterian. I said, "Sure! Love to!"
Saturday comes, I'm getting some laundry together for the what else, but to wash and I decide to turn my cell phone on. "I have a message?" It's from Magnolia Baptist's Contemporary Worship Leader......it's 4 p.m. he left me the message at 11 a.m......."can you come do Sunday? the guy that said he wasn't going to flake on us any more, flaked on us." Hmmmmmmmmmmm, what to do; what to do? I called him to tell him I was already committed at another church and he said, "oh we found someone for the first two services and you can use his kit at ll" Since my one at Mag Pres was at 9, then why not? "Sure, I'm there", I says to Mr. Steve Brown. So that weekend was a little busy.
At Mag Pres we did: (this is not in order, I don't really remember what all we did)
Hosanna by United (Not to be confused with Rosanna by Toto)
Marvelous Light by Charlie Hall
Beautiful by someone I don't know
I think we did another one or two, but it escapes me at the moment.
Then at the 11 a.m. service at Magnolia Baptist we did the following:
Here Is Our King (Crowder) this was cool...one of my favorites....odd to do off the cuff though
Let God Arise (tomlin) RAWK!!!
Trading My Sorrows - kind of cool, but a little goony, if you ask me
All creatures of our God and King - the illumination version of this Crowder tune. I have the version from "Can You Hear Us" Glad we went over that before service
We Fall Down - I don't think I played on this one
then we closed with Let God Arise....all in all it was fun.
This week, I again guested at Mag on Adams (aka Magnolia Baptist). It was pretty fun.
Let God Arise, Tomlin (not as Rawk, but close)
Friend of God X (goofy song, that I'm not a big fan of)
Gifted Response, Redman (love to play in the perfect time signature of 6/8, metric modulation is fun)
How Great Is Our God, Tomlin -(part of the "new hymnal")
Grace Flows Down, barely played on this one....Mellow (that's my style) (dinner for two a the wampus if you know where those lyrics came from)
So, I'm not playing next weekend as I have more catering gigs to handle and haven't been asked to play anywhere else any time soon.
P.S. If anyone knows a cool little coffee house type place myself and Mr. Paulo could play. Please let me know......or invite us....we're looking to do some stuff for "fun". He's not a bad writer or singer......c'mon people....let the love shine in.

Dan Bailey is good
http://www.harvest.org/crusades/2007/anaheim/webcast/index.php?id=108
I'm trying not to hold it against Dan for playing a DW kit at Harvest because it was probably a backline thing....I know his feelings.....

To make up for that previous post

These are two of our artists that have been playing a lot of the same places. Gregg is a slammin' drummer that is a legend in his own mind and Trent has done a ton of local work with numerous bands all over the country. They're really cool to deal with and I know Potter has some stuff out there on You Tube. Maybe I'll post some.
Introducing Gregg Potter and Trent Anderson

I don't know if any of ya'll saw this on 6/6/07, but it was really a joke. These are two of Chicago's local hero drummers, Gregg Potter (left) and Trent Anderson (right). I would list who all they've played with, but I'll let them tell you.
Anyway, Gregg and Trent seem to be at the same places at the same time, usually playing shows in different time slots. It's kind of cool that way.
Hopefully, neither Potter nor Trent got their panties in a twist over the earlier post.

Hey from Dale
Ahoy! Dale Moon here. Cool idea West...this should be a great forum for us drum geeks. Looking forward to venting and updating from the road. More soon.

Hello To Everyone!
So, this is an experiement. I have invited some of the guys that I talk to a lot in my work to come here and talk about what they have going on or whatever they want to talk about. It doesn't have to be about the gear or anything they're doing musically. That would be very cool of them to do, but this whole "new media" thing has me thinking that blogging might be sticking around. If people read the dumb stuff I right about, then blogs are here to stay.
Due to circumstances, I have been lucky enough to have been able to develop some good relationships with some great guys in the music industry. These guys here on this blog are just the best, "down to earth" guys you'll come across. (or at least the ones that I know and just might have time to let us all know what's going on from time to time.)
Please check out their links and you tube them if you can.
